SUIT UP THIS VALENTINES DAY
Jatin shows us how to slay the perfect Valentine's Day Outfit.
When you know Valentine’s is round the corner, you start planning for the day and make sure you give the perfect gift to your loved one. In the last post I showed you what wish list you can give to your partner so she doesn’t have hard time figuring out your gift. Now it’s time to plan how you going to be spending the day with her. But for that you need to look your best. There is no better gift for your better half than looking dapper by her side.
For such occasions we choose the best party in town and to match the standards we need to look at par with it. And nothing better than a suit to kick off the party. Yes a well fitted suit is all you need and I am going to show you how you can elevate a black suit with the right accessories and most importantly the right fit.
The first thing is to select the right shirt. If you don’t want to look stuffed while wearing a fitted suit, make sure you choose a right fitted dress shirt, even if you don’t have six packs. Yes, a slim fit shirt is for everyone and not only for the gym toned ones. It makes you look slimmer rather than accentuating the flaws. You just need to know the right areas to focus. If you have a bit of tummy, try to avoid fitting on that area and have a fitted shoulders and chest. A white dress shirt is a perfect choice for a black classic suit. You can also go for a light coloured shirt like beige or blue.
Once you got the right shirt, now it’s time for the most important part- the suit. That’s the key to look your best in a suit. The suit jacket length will dictate how “balanced” your upper body is to your lower body. Mess up the length of the jacket and the whole suit will look off. The jacket should end around mid-crotch if you’re under 5’9”. Mid to lower if you’re any taller than that. The shoulders should lay perfectly flat, with no divots or rumpling or pulling on the shoulders. The sleeves should end above the wrist watch you wear and should show maximum half an inch of shirt sleeve. With the top button fastened (never the bottom button), the jacket should lightly hug your midsection, but not feel tight or constricting. The pants should end just above the ankle and not fall freely on the shoes.
Wearing right accessories is like cherry on top. From pocket square to watch to shoes, it’s all about matching and elevating your look. Here as the look is in neutrals, I chose a pink and bright pocket square. A classic metal watch is my all time favourite and a metal bracelet if you are a fan of them. You are going on the right path if you chose the black oxfords.
Follow these golden rules are you are the good to go. Remember to keep it simple. Lot of us sometimes go overboard and as its Valentines day some choose the bright reds and maroons. No, its not Christmas so try to avoid it, Just add some subtle colour and keep it classy. A hanging bow tie looks sexy and is never too much to try. So now dress up, pick the best flowers and have a wonderful night with her. And yes, this is not the only day in the year to try this. Dress up and make every day as your Valentine, you don’t need just one to look your best and make her feel the best. Have a happy one!
